Leave Link-Tree Behind: how to Build Your Own Multi-Link Page on your website

In the world of digital marketing, it's crucial to have a central spot for all your key links. Many turn to third-party platforms like Link-Tree, but you don't need a third-party platform for a links page. Why settle for generic when you can go custom and create a multi-link page directly on your website. It’s easier and more beneficial than you think!

Creating a custom multi-link page directly on your website not only streamlines your digital presence but also brings benefits that third-party solutions can't match. Let's explore why making this switch can be a game-changer for your brand.

Here's why using your own website for your links page is a changer:

Brand Consistency:

Your website, your rules! Design your links page to perfectly match your brand's style and voice. This consistency strengthens your brand identity and leaves a lasting impression.

Analytics Insight:

Track how your visitors interact with your links directly through your website analytics. This data is gold for understanding what captures your audience's interest.

Seamless User Experience:

Keep visitors on your site, not someone else’s. This enhances user experience and can improve your website's SEO performance over time.

Create Your Own Insta-Perfect Links Page – Easy Steps!

Step 1: Create a new page on your website

  • Let's start by creating a new page on your website. In Squarespace click the plus icon next under ‘Not Linked’.

    🔗 Pro Tip: Keep this page exclusive. On Squarespace, tuck it away in the “Not Linked” section. This page is your little secret link nook, meant only for your Insta audience and doesn’t need to be active elsewhere on your website.

  • In the General Page Settings, give this page a name, I went with “Links” for mine, but feel free to pick a name that vibes with your brand. For this URL slug keep it short and snappy. This will be the gateway from your Instagram bio to your website. Think "Hello," "Start-Here," or something equally inviting.

  • For SEO Settings, you can switch it to ‘Hide Page From Search Results’ for this page. We want this to be our hidden gem, not popping up in Google searches and confusing the uninitiated.

You can view my Links Page here as an example.

🔗 Pro Tip: Keep in mind that most of the traffic to this page will be on mobile from the link in your bio on Instagram. Be sure to keep checking how your page design looks on mobile as you go!

Step 2: Add Your content & Customize Your Page

Now for the fun part! Time to add content to your page. Decide what your page should say and where it should take your users.

  • Simply add blocks of content to the page. For mine I started with an image block with a brand photo, then a text block with title to guide people to take a look around and choose where they want to go next. Keep it simple add in some key buzzwords!

  • Next, add a few CTA’s using button blocks or use hyperlinks. Showcase a few of your services, guide them to the home page, to your free opt in, or your contact page. Add buttons in order of importance on where you’d like your visitors to go.

Remember: Keep checking how it looks on mobile. That’s where most of the traffic will be coming from.

Step 3 (Optional): A Standalone Experience

Want to make this page a world of its own? You can opt to remove the header and footer for a standalone landing page experience.

This requires adding a little custom code that I’ve provided below. This code works for Squarespace 7.1 Classic Editor and Fluid Engine Websites.

How to Add The Code:

  • Click the gear icon to access PAGE SETTINGS for your new links page

  • Click on ADVANCED

  • Copy and paste the code below into the PAGE HEADER CODE INJECTION

  • Click SAVE and once the page has refreshed, your header and footer will be removed from that page

<style>
.header, #footer-sections {

}

How to review your Analytics

Squarespace has some built in Analytics. It’s important to see what is working and what isn’t, what people are engaging with, clicking on etc. on your website.

How to Access Squarespace Analytics

  • On the left navigation click ANALYTICS

  • Click On ENGAGEMENT to get a sense of what content your audience is engaging with and where they spend the most time

  • You can adjust the timeframe in the top right
